For those of you who may not have heard the news, I am pleased to announce a management change at Nevada State Bank. Effective January 5, 2017, I assumed the role of chairman of Nevada State Bank, and Terrance A. (Terry) Shirey was named president and chief executive officer.
My number one priority when I joined the bank as president in late 2007 was to develop a strong management team to lead the company. To that end, shortly after my arrival I recruited Terry, a licensed CPA with significant prior experience in the banking industry, as chief financial officer. He played a critical role in managing through the difficult recession years. In 2014, he was promoted to president and chief operating officer and assumed leadership of all back-office functions, Small Business and Treasury Management Sales.
As president, Terry also established himself as a face of the bank with clients and in the community. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce and as Vice-Chair of the College of Southern Nevada Foundation and he is also the Immediate Past Chairman of the Nevada Bankers Association.
As chairman, I will remain deeply involved in the company and the community and will continue engaging with bank clients and community leaders, mentoring the management team, and serving on local boards. I currently serve on the board of directors for Three Square, on the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees, and as a commissioner for the Nevada Commission on Tourism. In addition, Governor Brian Sandoval recently appointed me to the board of the Clark County Stadium Authority, which is responsible for overseeing the development of an NFL stadium in southern Nevada. I look forward to continuing to serve the community in these roles, in addition to my duties as chairman of the bank.
I am extremely proud of what our management team and our 800 colleagues across Nevada have accomplished since I began my tenure as CEO, and I am confident that Terry will provide the leadership necessary to ensure the continued success of the bank. It has been my pleasure to serve as CEO of this great company, and I look forward to continuing to serve the bank as its Chairman.
